Galtes

TEXTIL

In 1947 Mario Galbusera and his son Tommaso started to produce and sell fabrics in a small shop with just two looms. This activity was called “Textil” and it was located in Schio, a small village in the North East of Italy whose ancient textile traditions go back to the 17th century. In those years – just after the Second World War, their activity grew quickly and soon they were able to buy more looms, as well as a small factory.

LANIFICIO GALTES

At the beginning of the 80’s the two sons of Tommaso – Pier Paolo and Mario – joined the company.
They were young and full of enthusiasm and they approached the foreign markets. The business was growing very well, so the Galbusera family decided to build a new factory and also to name the new company “Lanificio GALTES” by taking the first three letters of GAL-busera and TESsuti which means fabrics. In the mid 90’s the youngest daughter of Tommaso – Dida – also joined the family business and helped to further expand the business, by travelling and letting Galtes fabrics be known around the world. The commercial dynamism combined with excellent fabrics, led Lanificio Galtes to expand their business and to take part to the most important textile international trade fairs. Fine wools, silk, cashmere and many other noble fibres were the backbone of beautiful collections 100% Made in
Italy which were renovated each seasons. Lanificio Galtes proudly supplied fabrics to the most important Italian Fashion Designers, as well as many customers all around the world. Those were years full of success for the Galbusera family.

Nowadays the brand “Lanificio Galtes” owns a priceless archive composed by more than 450 books where thousands of fabrics are gathered! These ancient books are an incredible heritage made of colors and designs developed in the past 70 years and they are preserved in a beautiful location.
